Haul No! calls on Navajo Nation President Nygren to SHUT DOWN PINYON PLAIN uranium mine!

Uncategorized
We call on Buu Nygren to take concrete steps to SHUT DOWN PINYON PLAIN uranium mine near Grand Canyon, adjacent to Sacred Red Butte. Haul No! was founded in late 2016 as a Diné-led initiative aimed at stopping both the Canyon Mine (now rebranded Pinyon Plain) and the White Mesa Mill, with proposed transport through Diné Bikeyah, our traditional homelands. Co-founders Leona Morgan, Sarana Riggs, and recently-transitioned Klee Benally led an awareness and action tour in 2017, educating and training communities along the haul route starting at the uranium mill in Ute territories to its point of origin: the mine in Havasupai homelands. In a March 14, 2014 Democracy Now! interview, focused on Pinyon Plain/Canyon Mine and the greater problem of uranium mining, Klee referred to the estimated 15,000-20,000 abandoned…

https://youtu.be/IMVPbavty-o Underground blasting & above ground work has begun at Pinyon Plain/Canyon Mine, just miles from the Grand Canyon.  Workers are readying to start mining uranium at the mine. According to the Forest Service, workers are blasting daily though no ore is being moved yet. Once Energy Fuels starts hauling out radioactive ore, they plan to haul 30 tons per day through Northern Arizona to the company’s processing mill 300 miles away.  The Grand Canyon, sacred site Red Butte, precious water, and communities along the haul route are in danger!  As all legal options have failed, we need you to join us to stand up and stop this nuclear catastrophe from permanently poisoning our communities! New Site & Issue UpdatesApril 2021 Yá’át'ééh, After waging an effective campaign to spread awareness and activate impacted communities to stop uranium mining near the Grand Canyon in 2017, we had to pause and focus on other organizing. As an all-volunteer effort, our crew is involved in many struggles throughout the Southwest addressing environmental and social issues including broader nuclear threats. In the midst of this pause, our website with the “.org” was taken. We have rebuilt the old site and are in the process of updating everything here at haulno.com. We are re-initiating our campaign to stop uranium mining at the Grand Canyon and broadening the scope of our organizing to address threats of nuclear colonialism in the Southwest. Past and ongoing threats include: uranium mining and milling, transport…

https://youtu.be/34BAmA4Ni2o Energy Fuels Incorporated is threatening to start uranium mining on sacred Indigenous Lands just miles from the Grand Canyon. Join our awareness & action tour to confront this toxic threat. The U.S. Forest Service has permitted toxic uranium mining based on an outdated environmental impact statement. The Havasupai Nation & Environmental groups have sued to Forest Service to stop the development. Although a court decision is expected any day, Energy Fuels is recklessly rushing to start mining. 12 trucks a day hauling 30 tons each of highly radioactive ore could be coming through our communities. We say, “Haul No!” Protect the Grand Canyon, sacred sites, and precious water. #haulno #stopcanyonmine The Haul No! tour is free and open to the public.
